Final Judgment
St Polycarp should definitely be considered for patronage for World Youth Day next year as he has shown crucial qualities to the role. These include humility and selflessness, displayed resilience in the face of persecution, contributed significantly to beneficial gain of many lives, had everlasting faith and trusted in the God Almighty and demonstrated the vital Cardinal Virtues.
To be humble and selfless is to be kind and gentle to all. This is what St Polycarp did, and what we as children should be like as well. Helping those in need and gratifying your achievements are needed for this.
To be resilient from persecution means to be able to come back stronger and more determined to overcome hardships or difficulties in your life. This could be an underwhelming mark for a test or a snarky comment made about you. Being able to bounce back from these things is important for your happiness and wellbeing.
To be someone who has contributed to someone’s life that as a result has brought joy or ease to them is a wonderful thing. Whether it’s donating to 3rd world countries, giving clothes and food to St Vincent De Paul or praying for a loved one to get well soon, these all provide in some way a needed deed.
To be someone who represents the Cardinal Virtues, you need to know how to have morality in our lives. Be mindful. Be just. Be in-control. Be strong.
